96. Warn His Mistress
The Next Day.
In the wee hours of the morning, Lucas walked into the kitchen and met the maid preparing breakfast.
“Young Master, you’re awake early. It is the weekend, have you forgotten?” Although the Young Master usually woke up early, not this early.
Which made the maid wonder if he even slept at night, seeing the huge circles underneath his eyes.
Quickly, she rephrased her words, hiding her shock. “Good morning, Young Master.”
“Mm.” Lucas leaned on the counter, folding his hands. “What are you making for breakfast?”
“Uhm, it’s bacon, sandwich, and omelet. The usual, Young Master. Would you prefer something else?”
Although finding his behavior strange, Mira was curious to know what was so important that would probe him to enter the kitchen.
And his next question made her blink so rapidly, she was lost for words.
“While Heidi was here, what did she prefer for breakfast?”
“Uhm, Young Master?”
“You heard me right, didn’t you?”
“Ah, yes-yes.” Mira bobbed her head, feeling lost. “The madam would only eat whatever you eat. Bacon and sandwiches are your favorite. That’s what the Madam preferred too.”
Hearing the maid’s explanation, an almost subtle smile formed on Lucas’s lips. “Make an extra breakfast and package it separately. Make sure you prepare it well.”.
“Oh, okay,” Mira nodded absentmindedly. She wanted to ask who the extra breakfast was for, but Lucas had already left the kitchen.
He sat on the dining table, staring down at his wristwatch, and glancing at the window once in a while.
The dark clouds were gradually clearing up, the morning light streaming down the sky.
Several minutes later, Mira came out with the breakfast and served him. While Lucas ate, his face contorted, and he swallowed down the meal with difficulty.
Mira sighed. “Young Master, even the chef was a better cook than me. You shouldn’t have fired him.”
“Should I have fired you instead?” Lucas glared at her.
“No- No, that’s not what I mean, Young Master.” Mira fell on her knees, crying out. “I- I was just- I’m afraid of harming you with my poor meals. My cooking skills will never be on par with the former Young Madam’s.”
“Be grateful you can clean well.”
“Yes- Yes, so grateful. I am very grateful for your magnanimity, Young Master.”
Realizing that Lucas Harrison was only keeping her because she could clean and scrub well, the maid had her stars to thank for that.
Lucas was about to chase her away when the doorbell rang.
“Who could that be?” Mira wondered. ” It’s still early.”
“What are you waiting for!”
As the bell kept on ringing constantly, Lucas Harrison was annoyed and he snapped at her.
Mira scurried towards the door, her fingers shaking as she opened it.
“Ah!” Seeing who was at the door, she screamed as if she’d seen a ghost.
“Who is there?” Lucas became alert.
“Young Master – Young Master…” Mira came rushing back, her eyes wide with shock and excitement. “It is the Young Madam. She’s here!”
Lucas sprang to his feet, looking unconvinced.
Before he could react to the maid’s words, Heidi stepped into the room. Seeing her, he couldn’t believe his eyes. Lucas hurried to the living room, meeting her on the way.
“Heidi,” he whispered.
If it wasn’t for her skin which was still pale, one wouldn’t believe she was the same unconscious Heidi from a few hours back.
“You’re awake?” Lucas gasped.
Heidi threw daggers at him, her eyes dark with fury.
Due to her rage, she didn’t listen to any of the words he spoke. “Lucas Harrison, I am here to warn you! Tell your mistress to stay away from me. If Tracy ever tries anything stupid with me again, I will make sure she eats dust.”
Her words were like a massive attack which Lucas didn’t see coming. His excitement at seeing her, and the momentary thinking that Heidi was back to him shattered.
“What are you talking about? Did Tracy do anything wrong?”
“Why don’t you ask her instead? If I told you that she hired someone to drown me while playing out her tricks inside Zach Olsen’s building, would you believe it?”
“Why would Tracy do that?”
