152. Her Only Last Bait
Tracy returned home in the middle of the night. She sneaked into the bed beside Lucas, unaware that the man wasn’t sleeping.
“Where are you coming from?” His deep voice echoed within the walls of the Master Bedroom. “And what are you doing in my room?”
“I- I feel so scared, Honey.” Tracy sniffed her tears, reaching out to touch him. “I just lost a very close friend of mine. It’s devastating.”
Now Tracy regretted coming to Lucas’s room.
But she was disoriented and truly scared after being tortured mercilessly by that lunatic Todd.
She was so scared that she couldn’t even sleep alone in her room, fearing she would experience a nightmare about what happened.
That was how horribly traumatized she was.
Lucas turned on the lights, staring at the thin fabric of her night dress, his gaze darkening. “Get. Off.”
He didn’t need to say those words. Tracy was ready to flee the room already, sensing his rage towards her.
But Lucas stopped her before she reached the door.
“Come back here.” His tone wasn’t warm, his commanding voice making her shiver.
“Why do you hesitate?”
Only when Lucas said his last words did Tracy move. Slowly, she turned around and met the man’s dark gaze. Lucas reached for the shoulder strap of her dress and pulled it down.
Seeing the bite marks all over her body, he glared at her. “Tracy, did you go out to bid farewell to a dying friend or to mess around?”
“Huh?” Tracy acted confused, giving him a flabbergasted look. “Honey, what do you mean?”
For a few seconds, Lucas didn’t say a word, his glare at her intensifying.
Tracy broke down, bawling her eyes out. “How could you say that, Honey? You know me well. I just fell down while rushing to the hospital and sustained these injuries?”
“Which hospital?” Lucas asked.
“Phoenix City’s first hospital?” Tracy said, unsure if her lie was foolproof enough. What she didn’t expect was that Lucas would pick up his phone and dial a number.
After making some inquiries, the man looked as if he would murder her.
“You weren’t in that hospital. Tell me exactly where you went!” His hard tone resounded inside the room, shaking her to the core.
Tracy dropped to her knees, wailing loudly. “Honey Honey, why are you doubting me? Will you stop treating me like this? Don’t you care about the baby’s health?”
“Will you answer my question or not?” Lucas pinched her chin, tilting her head up to stare into her eyes.
Tracy only cried harder, seemingly not wanting to reveal the truth.
Finally, Lucas let go of her.
Tracy rose to her feet, one leg limping and she held him for support. “Why are you doubting me, Honey? I’ve been transparent throughout the years we spent together. Unlike someone who lied about her identity and hangs out with other men to spite you, I’ve been nothing but loyal,”
She said, secretly hinting towards Heidi.
Heidi was the cause of all this. Because of her, Tracy had to be tortured mercilessly.
If Todd had had his way with Heidi, things wouldn’t have gone haywire.
He wouldn’t have done this to her.
Fortunately, her baby’s health was intact. What would she have done if she suddenly had a miscarriage and lost her baby, her only last bait?
The bait she was using to keep Lucas by her side.
At The Olsens Mansion.
While Heidi ate her breakfast in silence, she could feel many pinned gazes on her. Feeling greatly self-conscious, she didn’t dare to meet the gazes.
“Heidi, look at me.”
When her mother said those words, Heidi knew she was done for.
