Shouldn’t Mess Up with My Hidden Heiress Ex-wife Chapter 149 by HusnaS

149. Cruel Fate

“Mr. Olsen’s contact’s not reachable,” Isla murmured disappointedly. “Let’s see if I can reach Ms. Anderson.”

Some minutes later, Kate barged into the office after receiving Isla’s call. She was all sweaty and panting heavily, struggling to catch her breath.

“Heidi – Heidi, what happened to you?” She grabbed Heidi’s shoulders, turning her around.

Seeing the tiny bruises, Kate swore, Who the hell did this to you, Heidi? Damnit! I’m gonna shred them to pieces. Who had the audacity to kidnap you at the bar?”

Due to Kate’s vigorous shaking of her body, Heidi was forcefully pulled out of her reverie.

Looking from Kate to Isla, her feverish eyes moistened.

“Tell us what happened to you, Heidi. We’re both dying of curiosity,” Kate said.

What else could Heidi tell them apart from the alarming news weighing on her mind?

Summoning up her self-resolve, she sat on the couch and Kate and Isla sat beside her.

“Ms. Olsen, please tell us what’s bothering you.”

Heidi put on a wry smile, flicking away the drop of tears. Looking from Isla to Kate, she murmured, “Girls, will you keep this a secret?”

Isla and Kate exchanged confused glances.

“What do you want us to keep a secret?”

“I’m pregnant,” Heidi announced.

A deafening silence fell inside the office. “Heidi, did I hear you right?” Kate stood up. “You aren’t pulling our legs, are you?”

“Ms. Olsen, please be serious. We want to know what happened after you left the bar last night.”

“Well, I just discovered I’m pregnant,” Heidi replied in a careless tone,

bottling up her emotions.

She stood up, folding her hands and facing her back to them.

“A few hours ago, I found out I’m p- pregnant.”

The word ‘Pregnant’ became too hard to pronounce. Heidi’s heart sank and sank with each remembrance of it.

“No way, Heidi! Which scumbag knocked you up?”

“You don’t appear happy, Ms. Olsen. Was this pregnancy a mistake?”

“The scumbag is Lucas Harrison.”

Heidi faced them.

And as much as she hated to admit it, her pregnancy was a mistake.

Why not?

She’d just fallen into a trap she’d unknowingly laid for herself.

If her family knew of this, how would they react?

“Wait, What!?” Kate exclaimed.

“You mean Mr. Harrison got you pregnant? Ms. Olsen, no. How could it be?”

Kate and Isla were flabbergasted beyond expression, their pupils popping out, accompanied by a doubtful look in their eyes.

“Please don’t give me that look,” Heidi slumped on the couch, saying tiredly and rubbing her forehead. “I didn’t throw myself at Lucas Harrison, but one thing led to another and it happened.”

Kate’s sigh resounded inside the office.

“I pity Steve the most. Lucas Harrison seduced you, didn’t he?”

“Th-This pregnancy, Ms. Olsen…” Isla also sighed. “It will incapacitate you in so many ways. You just rose up the career ladder, and your family…”

Isla became quiet, a suppressing silence hanging in the atmosphere.

Heidi felt an even greater devastation than they were. She rose to her feet, limped away, and stood in front of the large windows.

Thinking that letting the words out would lessen some of her anxiety, their expressions reflected the kind of expression she’d definitely see in others ‘faces if the news got out.

Just at the time Lucas was nurturing the baby in Tracy’s stomach, pampering her endlessly, she fell pregnant for him.

Why was fate so cruel to her?

“We have gathered more information about him.”

From the other end of the phone, the person spoke to Lucas in an anxious voice. “It turned out there’s more to Todd Lewis than meets the eye.”

“Spill it,” Lucas commanded impatiently.

“First of all, the person backing him up is none other than a woman. Todd Lewis is popular for messing around with married women. One of those women must know his hideout. They are all wives of the big shots of Phoenix City.”

“Give me their names.”

The other person listed a few names of those women, none of whom Lucas recognized.

Finally, the guy added. “One more thing, Mr. Harrison. It seems Todd Lewis might have some relationship with the Carlsons’ Family.”
