120. A Sudden Gloom
“Dad, please stop it.” Harold interrupted Natalie from speaking. “It is already too late, anyway. Heidi won’t get the position, she might as well continue managing that small brand.”
“This is not what a responsible family member does, Brother.” Caleb stood up for Heidi. “You have gone too far by dangling the cherry in front of her and snatching it away when she almost grabbed it.”
It was Harold Olsen who had suggested managing that brand in the first place, to test Heidi’s capabilities. Not only did he fool Heidi, but he also crushed her anticipation.
“You- Caleb.” Harold pointed at him. ”
What right do you have to accuse me? Didn’t you neglect all your duties in the company and go around catching fun?”
“What duties do you mean, Harold?” Regina shot back. “Is it the duties you forcefully snatched from him? Everyone knows my husband is jobless which is all because of you!”
“Regina, watch your mouth!” Beatrice stood up. “I know you and Caleb are jealous because you’re both useless in this family. Don’t pin the blame on my husband.”
“All of you, be quiet!” Grandpa Jeffery gripped his cane, rising to his feet. ” This argument will lead you nowhere. Harold, I want you to do the right thing soon. Let Natalie go back to her former position and give Heidi what she deserves.”
Grandpa Jeffery left for the stairs after saying that.
Harold Olsen also stood up with his family. He glared at Caleb and Regina. ” Tell your daughter to stop having impossible dreams! She will never be the CEO, okay?”
“Uncle, don’t waste your energy.”
Heidi forced him a smile. “Didn’t I promise I’ll get my position back?”
“Haha! Let’s see how you’ll be able to do that!” Aiden laughed in her face. ” Just accept your defeat already.”
Harold and his family left with triumphant smiles on their faces.
Regina sighed exasperatedly. ”
Seriously, those people are too mean. Caleb, can we let them keep having their ways with us?”
“Definitely not!” Caleb shook his head and held Heidi’s shoulders. “This might sound crazy because we didn’t back you up, Heidi. However, I promise to help you get that position.”
Heidi was stunned by her father’s statement. Also sensing her mother’s consent, tears came to her eyes. Happy tears.
“Mum, Dad, does that mean you guys have pardoned me? You’ll no longer give the cold shoulder, will you?”
Regina and Caleb exchanged glances.
“As long as you speak no more of your ex-husband and cut all ties with him,” Regina said.
“It is going to be a cumbersome task to defeat Harold Olsen,” Caleb added. ” We’ll do everything in our power to make sure you’re victorious. Just don’t disappoint us again, Heidi.”
By disappointing them, her father meant never getting involved with Lucas Harrison again.
Heidi understood the meaning behind his warning.
She was supposed to feel indifferent or happy that her parents had finally forgiven her. Then where was this sudden gloom coming from?
At StriveStyle Co., the next morning.
Heidi walked out of the elevator and met Isla waiting for her.
“Good morning, Ms. Olsen. You’re here already. Kate Anderson’s final photoshoot is today, and she’ll be glad to have you there. Luckily, the photoshoot has just started.”
As always, Isla was very anxious when it concerned work.
Heidi gave her a smile, responding to her greeting. On their way to the photo studio, they walked past so many happy employees.
“Good morning, Ms. Olsen.”
“As always, our kind and hardworking CEO is at work before most of the employees.”
“Ms. Olsen is the epitome of a great leader. Why not, she’s showing a good example.”
“Just like Ms. Olsen, every employee at this marketing brand vows to be hardworking.”
“Everyone has grown so fond of you, Ms. Olsen,” Isla said as they entered the photo studio. “I guess they’re all gonna miss you once you leave.”
They walked into Kate Anderson posing for the camera in an elegant fashion dress produced by KU Designs.
Kate soon finished her photoshoot and she and her manager joined Heidi in her office.
The always-stoic manager was all smiles, confusing Isla and Heidi. And the thing she said next left them both baffled.
“Ms. Olsen, in my whole life in the entertainment industry, I’ve never seen such a miracle happen to a small brand before. How about we extend Kate’s contract with StriveStyle Co.?”
