106. Erasing Those Memories
The Evening Soon Came.
StarBite Restaurant was famous for having the most highly skilled chefs in Phoenix City.
The five-star restaurant stood in the heart of the city, exuding warmth and vitality.
Heidi stepped out of the elevator with Isla following behind her as one of the restaurant’s staff led them to a private room.
“Ms. Olsen, that model is so adamant to meet you. I told her you are very busy and your appointment might be extended, but she keeps messaging me every day.”
“Oh, really?” Heidi said distractedly.
“Yeah. And you can’t believe who she is. Do you recall Ms. Cleric? The model we’ve courted not very long ago?”
“Uhm, yeah. That model?” Heidi nodded absentmindedly. “I think I remember her.”
“Ms. Olsen, what’s wrong?” Isla’s furrowed with worry, noticing that Heidi’s behavior wasn’t normal. “Are you alright? Is something bothering you?”
“Yeah.” Heidi scratched the back of her neck, pulling up her sweater. “I’m fine, don’t worry.”
Apart from looking paler than normal, Isla had a feeling that her boss wasn’t feeling well.
She had the urge to ask her so many questions but they soon arrived at the private room.
“Girl, you’re finally here!” Kate stood up and welcomed them, giving Heidi a big hug. “I thought you were going to stand me up, you know.” She pouted.
Heidi let out a soft laugh. “Why should we miss the opportunity of eating high- classy meals specifically ordered by Kate Anderson?”
“Haha! What a freeloader you are.” Kate joked back.
Dressed in an elegant wine dress, Kate lived up to her name as a supermodel.
She scrutinized Heidi who was only dressed in jeans and a turtleneck sweater, and she said in an offended tone. “Come on, Girl! Where are those sexy dresses you’ve kept hidden in a corner of your closet? Isn’t this one of the occasions you should flaunt your curves? Why are you bundling up yourself from head to toe?”
“Oh, this…” Heidi avoided their gazes.
The meals were already spread on the wide table and she started eating. “It’s nothing. Just feeling out of fashion tonight,” she murmured between mouthfuls.
Kate gave Isla a questioning look, also finding Heidi’s behavior strange. Isla shrugged, silently telling her that she also didn’t know what was happening.
“Haha, it’s no biggie.” Kate laughed it off, letting go of the topic. “By the way, Heidi. I’ve got a huge surprise for you.”
“Huh?” Heidi lifted her head, her eyes going from Kate to Isla.
“You’ll soon find out,” Kate said in a singsong voice, wiggling her brows.
Isla seemed to know what the surprise was because she didn’t look confused but only stared at her lap and blushed.
“You guys…” Heidi was about to express her confusion when steady footsteps came from her back and large palms covered her eyes.
A familiar scent of a man drifted near, and she could feel that person leaning forward. “I am the surprise,” he whispered in her ear.
“Steve?” Heidi gasped.
Steve removed his palm from her eyes and took a seat beside her, smiling brightly. “Now it feels as if we just parted ways yesterday.”
However, the past few days hadn’t been easy for him, thinking about her all day and night.
Under his tender gave, Heidi looked mortified. “W-When did you arrive?” She looked away, her cheeks heating up with embarrassment.
Steve put on a frown, sensing that something was wrong with her. He also noticed her pale skin.
“Heidi, are you alright?” He asked.
Heidi paused as she was about to down another cup of water. Was it so obvious?
Isla, Kate, and now Steve. They all noticed something was wrong with her.
How could she be alright when the only thoughts occupying her mind were about the passionate night she’d shared with Lucas?
Heidi had fled, but she couldn’t erase those memories which were doing strange things to her.
“I-I’m fine,” she responded, giving everyone a forced smile. “Guys, please don’t worry about me.”
“Well, since you say so.” Steve looked relieved.
Everyone let go of the topic and they all ate silently before Steve spoke again,
“I must commend your bravery, Heidi. All I see on the media nowadays is great news about StriveStyle Co. There’s no doubt that the brand will soon get back on its feet with how things are going currently.”
Then he sighed. “Sadly, the AG Group is taking blow after blow. If only the brand’s glory can be of help at this critical moment.”
“Oh, you don’t have to worry, Mr. Anderson,” Isla said excitedly. “Very soon, Ms. Olsen will become the AG Group’s CEO after the next Shareholders meeting. I am confident in her that she will turn things around for the AG Group the way she did with StriveStyle Co.”
“Huh? Heidi’s becoming the CEO?” Kate dropped her spoon, looking baffled. “No way!”
“That’s quite a surprise.” Steve looked at Heidi.
Heidi gave Isla a look which prompted her to apologize, “I’m sorry for letting my tongue slip, Ms. Olsen.”
“You seem to want to keep it a secret,” Steve said, confused.
Heidi sighed and told him, “Because everyone thinks It’s crazy. The last thing I want is my close friends laughing at how silly that idea is.”
Hearing her reasoning, Steve shook his head. “Why should we laugh at you when it’s the most brilliant idea? In fact, the more I know about you, Heidi, the more my admiration for you increases. Hopefully, my heart won’t burst someday from too much excitement.”
