103. The Strange Sensations
Turning around, Lucas pounded on the door and called out to the Butler a few more times. He even called out to the maid but no one answered.
“See?” He looked at her. “I can’t do anything about it.”
Heidi was suffocating with a strange feeling which only increased due to his presence.
Realizing that Grandpa Winston was bent on locking them up in the same room, she left him alone and walked back into the closet.
A while later, Heidi came out, fully dressed.
Lucas stared at her, a longing look in his eyes. “Heidi, have you considered my request?”
Even though she now wore proper clothes, the only image he could see was of her only in a towel.
Heidi gave him a hard look. “Why should I? I’ve already told you my decision, haven’t I?” She snickered. ” Lucas Harrison, I wanted to report to Grandpa Winston about what you did to AG Group. Leave the AG Group alone for goodness sake.”
Lucas stepped forward. “I don’t regret what I did. Zach Olsen will soon go bankrupt, won’t you come back to me, Heidi?”
By that, he meant once Zach Olsen’s wealth went down, Heidi would have no one else to rely on. Then she’d be left with no choice but to return to him.
After all, Lucas Harrison still thought she was a gold digger.
“Scumbag!”
Heidi slapped him across the face, her eyes turning red. Although the impact wasn’t hard, it was enough to express her anger. “What exactly do you think of me, Lucas Harrison?”
Lucas rubbed his cheek. He was supposed to be mad that Heidi slapped him, but the moment her palm came in contact with his skin, it sent a whole new sensation down his body.
Heidi was no exception. She felt like her body wasn’t acting normal.
Quickly, she turned her back to him, hiding the shocked look on her face. ” You can climb down the balcony and go to your own quarters. We won’t share the same room.”
Her words were no less than a command.
Lucas reached out to touch her, but his hand halted mid-air and he dropped it.
“Grandpa said my quarters is being renovated.”
“And do you believe that he’s telling the truth?” Heidi walked away, struggling to curb her rapid heartbeat.
She sat down on the bed, hugging the pillow close to her chest.
“Well, what do you want me to do?” Lucas sighed. “We can’t make Grandpa mad, right?”
Heidi pursed her lips and looked away. Her heartbeat was uncontrollable and his presence filled all her senses.
If she shared the same bedroom with him, would she be able to control herself?
What the hell was happening to her?
It wasn’t like she’d never shared the same proximity with him before, why did she desire to touch the man like never before? Or maybe to just have a closer look at his handsome face?
The strange feeling Lucas was having wasn’t any better.
He swallowed- nothing. Even his throat was parched.
Mustering up his self-resolve, he forced the words out. “D-Don’t worry. I won’t do anything you don’t want me to. Forget I’m in the room.”
For the first time, he found himself stuttering.
Quickly, he grabbed a robe from the closet and entered the bathroom. Listening to the sound of rushing water, Heidi lay on the bed, her eyes fixed on the ceiling.
It wasn’t even hot, but rapid sweats poured down her forehead. As she closed her eyes, she envisioned Lucas Harrison inside the bathroom, the cold droplets of water streaming down his smooth and fair skin, down to his abs and below.
Heidi could envision his strong hands roaming over his body- in her vision, those strong hands transformed into her soft slender ones, running all over his body.
“Heck!” Heidi exclaimed, sitting up, her eyes wide with shock.
‘W-Why?’ Why was she having those pervasive thoughts?
Her palm wandered to her chest, hoping to ease down her heartbeat, but all she could feel was the slightly high temperature of her skin.
When the bathroom door opened, Heidi quickly lay down, pretending to be sleeping.
As Lucas’s footsteps approached, her heart beat so hard as if it would fly out of her chest.
Lucas hesitated by the bed, his eyes fixed on her slender figure. It was as if he could see through the silky nightwear.
“W-What are you doing?” Heidi became alert when he sank down on the bed.
“There’s nowhere to sleep,” Lucas responded, trying to avert his gaze.
“Sleep on the couch.”
“There’s no couch.”
Heidi opened one eye and found out that there was indeed no couch in the room.
“Then sleep on the floor,” she mumbled, shifting uncomfortably on the bed.
Lucas stared at the hard cold floor. ” You know I can’t.”
“Then use the blanket!” Heidi gasped. ” If you can’t sleep on the floor, I will.”
Lucas would never allow her to sleep on the floor.
Even though he’d made her do that a few times in the past, it just felt unfair now.
“Believe me, Heidi. I won’t do anything you don’t want me to,” he said in a strained voice. “Just pretend I’m not here.”
With that said, he lay down properly on the bed. How could Heidi pretend he wasn’t there when the fresh scent from the bath was disrupting her senses?
Shutting her eyes once more, the sleep never came. She was starkly aware of the man’s presence.
Lucas’s body was also betraying his words. With his back to her, he faced the other side, his eyes fixed on her shadow on the wall.
For a few seconds, their steady breathings resounded in the room. Heidi’s fingers dug into the bedsheet, gripping it hard in order to control her emotions.
She kept shifting on the bed. Feeling his hot gaze on her, she turned around.
Heidi stifled a gasp, finding him staring at her.
