Shouldn’t Mess Up with My Hidden Heiress Ex-wife Chapter 101 by HusnaS

101. Falling in Love

“Grandpa, you already know?” Heidi didn’t mask her surprise.

“Why not? It is all over the news, Dear.”

Heidi sighed inside. ‘Seems it’s going to be easy to convince Grandpa Winston to stop Lucas Harrison from endangering the AG Group.’

“Actually, it’s the reason why I’m here, Grandpa.” Heidi held his hand and sat him down on the couch, sitting beside him. “About the AG Group and GK Group, the war that is going on is inhumane, don’t you think so?”

“You’re right.” Grandpa Winston frowned. “I didn’t teach Lucas Harrison to bully others. He might be fighting that boy from the AG Group because of you, but he shouldn’t take things too far.”

“Absolutely.” Heidi nodded. “That’s why I’m here to report him to you, Grandpa-”

Heidi didn’t get to complete her words because someone suddenly joined them in the living room. The wide doors opened and steady footsteps stepped in slowly.

The footsteps receded behind her, and his commanding presence made her hair stand on end. Without needing to turn around, Heidi already knew that it was Lucas.

“Grandpa, you summoned me,” Lucas murmured, hiding his astonishment at finding Heidi here.

Grandpa Winston exchanged glances with the Butler.

It appeared the heavens were working in his favor this evening.

“Yes, I summoned you because I wanted to tell you something important. The news came to me that your lawyer has quit his job.”

Lucas’s brows furrowed. Instantly, he brought out his phone to dial his lawyer.

“You don’t have to, because I have found a new lawyer for you. Didn’t you want to divorce Heidi? She will help you finalize it.”

When Lucas heard the word ‘Divorce’ his heart beat twice at once, and his startled gaze fell on Heidi.

Quickly, he opened his mouth to say, Grandpa, about the divorce-”

But Grandpa Winston raised up a hand, shutting him up. “Lucas, Heidi, Grandpa has been missing you a lot nowadays. Why don’t you keep me company? Can you please forsake whatever brought you here for a moment? Let this old man enjoy the peaceful company of his grandchildren.”

Both Lucas and Heidi were confused and they looked at each other.

Grandpa Winston winked at the Butler who gave him a secret thumbs-up. Butler Luke slid inside the kitchen without anyone noticing, and he returned later with a huge tray filled with food.

Carefully, he dropped the tray on the dining table where Grandpa Winston, Heidi, and Lucas were already sitting.

“Believe me, I didn’t know where she came from, but I instantly knew in my heart that she would be the woman I would love forever.”

Grandpa Winston was telling them stories about how he met his wife and how their relationship started and developed.

At first, Heidi was distracted as she glared as hard as she could at Lucas.

But eventually, she got lost in Grandpa Winston’s romance story, especially when he reached the part where he had to sacrifice all he had for his love.

“Weren’t you afraid that she might leave you? What if your family came after her?”

“Although they didn’t approve of her, they couldn’t do anything anymore since I decided to leave that horrible place with her. That was how we arrived in this city, and I worked hard to build this empire and make her the happiest woman on earth.”

“That’s a bittersweet love story.” Heidi sighed. “How unfortunate, Grandma passed away early.”

“Very sad indeed.” Grandpa Winston let out a heavy sigh. “Lucas was only eleven when she departed us, not long after his mother passed away.”

Grandpa Winston’s story went on for hours. They’d long finished eating and the servants had packed the plates away.

“So you see how great it is to fall in love? There will be sad moments, but the happy moments are worth cherishing.”

“What if the love is one-sided?” Heidi asked. “And one party keeps getting heartbroken again and again?”

Grandpa Winston shook his head. “It is a dangerous kind of love you can’t force.”

“However, if the one-sided love is finally reciprocated someday, all wounds will be healed, right?” Lucas asked.

Grandpa Winston was trying to form a reply when Heidi laughed softly. ” Grandpa, I think people fall out of love, especially when it brings nothing but hurt.”

“But if the old flame returns and promises a life full of bliss, it is possible to fall back into love, right?” Lucas added.

“Falling in love isn’t easy, falling out of love is the hardest… Is it falling back into love that should be the easiest?” Heidi gave him an incredulous look.

“If it becomes hard to fall back into love, maybe the initial love wasn’t strong enough, right?”

Grandpa Winston looked from one person to another, his head pounding. ” Do you want me to answer your questions or not?”
