144. A Notorious Criminal
From the other end of the phone, Lucas stared at his phone in a trance, discomfort settling it.
Why would Heidi’s phone be with Zach Olsen?
What were those words Zach said? Was Heidi in trouble?
Inside the huge skyscraper of the GK Group, the lights were dim, lest for the bright lights of his office, as if he’d planned to spend the whole night inside the company.
Sensing that Heidi might be in danger though, Lucas grabbed his car keys and stormed out of the office, making a phone call.
In no time, he arrived at Skyline Bar after getting an Intel that Zach Olsen was in the bar.
Zach was still pacing back and forth, wondering what he was going to do with Lucas Harrison when Lucas barged into the booth.
“Where’s Heidi? Have you come to return her?”
Zach instantly attacked him, grabbing his collar and shaking him hard.
“Scrap it, Lucas Harrison. I’m gonna teach you a great lesson tonight!”
Lucas’s dark gaze accessed the room, ignoring the loud guy. “Where’s Heidi?”
“I should ask you that question.”
“Mr. Olsen, please calm down.” Isla came forward, trembling. “How about we start searching for Ms. Olsen? Time is going and it seems Mr. Harrison doesn’t have her.”
Before Zach could agree to Isla’s words, Lucas was already out of the booth, thinking it was a good idea.
He summoned the Bar’s security, checked the surveillance, and spent several minutes viewing the footage of each corner of the Bar.
Finally, he paused the video footage, his eyes dimming seeing a strange man taking Heidi out of the Bar.
Jealousy kicked in, as Heidi swayed in the footage, being supported by the man as if she’d been drunk.
But his possessive instinct outweighed his jealousy. Right now, Lucas felt like tearing that man apart.
He didn’t waste a second, barking out more instructions and leaving the Bar.
“Mr. Harrison, we’ve found information about him.”
A call came into his phone as he drove down the city.
“Todd Lewis, a second-class socialite. He’s always involved in drugs and notorious for messing around with married women. The police never kept him for more than a day in custody. He’s very dangerous.”
“Send me his address.”
After hanging up, a text message popped up, displaying the man’s address.
Lucas pressed the accelerator, increasing the car’s speed.
Pulling over in front of RoseHills Hotel, a huge frown formed on his face, finding the place dilapidated.
He left his car and entered inside, wondering if it was even the right address, his eyes scrutinizing the place.
Then his gaze traveled to the rooftop and his frown deepened, seeing an almost familiar figure leaning against the railings.
“If you don’t back off, I’ll jump!”
The cold wind blowing tousled with Heidi’s hair, causing some strands to enter her eyes.
She stood cautiously by the railings, gripping them tight.
When she couldn’t use the elevator as an escape route, she was left with no other choice but to take the stairs that only led up here.
Definitely, the lunatic followed her.
“Only a fool will think of jumping to their death, I’m offering you a free pass to experience heaven, don’t make things difficult.”
Not minding the cold wind biting his exposed skin, the lustful man was only after the woman in front of him.
Of course, Heidi wasn’t a fool to jump to her death.
An iron rod lay nearby and she grabbed it, pointing it forward, her fingers shaking. “I swear I’ll hurt you!”
But the man didn’t pay heed to her warning and he kept moving forward.
With each step he took forward, Heidi took a step back, frightened and scared at the vast height behind her and the maniac in front of her.
Then her fear came true when she tripped and lost her footing, almost falling down the rooftop.
Heidi’s heart literally flew out of her chest at that moment.
“Gotcha!” The man caught her, grinning evilly. “I didn’t want to force you, but it seems you want me to.”
“Let me go!” Heidi beat at his chest, exhausted from running and fighting. ” Just let go of me! I’m not interested in whatever stupid thing you want from me!”
“No one makes me a promise and goes back on it. You have your friend to blame for this, Heidi. If she hadn’t sent me that voice note, I wouldn’t have been so desperate.”
The voice note again. Who the hell was he talking about?
Heidi fought hard against him, her energy drastically draining, the uncomfortable feeling in her stomach increasing. “Whatever she gave you, I’ll triple it! Just let me go!”
“Ha! Even a room filled with gold can’t stop me from having my way tonight. Fine, the room’s messy anyways, let’s do it here!”
